A DVR (Digital-Video-Recorder) is a set-top box with a built-in hard drive for recording your favorite television shows and movies. Unlike a VCR, a DVR set-top box can record programs in HD (High-Definition), schedule series recordings, and record multiple programs at once.
Insufficient Disk Space – DVR requires a certain amount of hard drive space to process and keep the recordings. When hard drive space fills up 90-95%, the receiver starts deleting previous recordings to make space for the new one.

It means that in the last guide data update, the episode didn’t show up or it didn’t meet the criteria you set. If you only wanted first runs, then it won’t record something it thinks is a rerun. Guide data updates happen all the time.

Not only is it randomly recording shows you didn’t ask for DIRECTV NOW is sometimes recording shows from channels you do not subscribe to. When that happens you still can’t watch the show but it will take up space in your DVR until you delete the show.
Yes, it’s true. There’s a lot of content available on DIRECTV On Demand that doesn’t let you skip commercials. The same is true of the “Restart” functionality that lets you start a show in the middle and rewind to the beginning. Not only can’t you skip commercials but in many cases rewind and fast forward are disabled.
on right side front of dvr, behind door hit red button to restart, then “program cannot be fast forwarded” will go away.
