Some shoes are compatible with both two bolt and three-bolt pedal systems, but many, including more specialist performance shoes, are only compatible with one or the other

It is also important to note that most cleats are specific to the manufacturer. For example, Shimano SPD-SL cleats are based on the Look system but

Are Shimano cleats compatible with Peloton?
Shimano IC3 and IC5 shoes have a 2-bolt cleat design which are
not compatible with the Delta cleats and pedals that come with a Peloton bike
. However, you can swap the Delta pedals on your Peloton bike for Shimano SPD pedals in order to use your IC shoes.

. This is the standard bicycle pedal that has a flat surface and is compatible with any kind of shoe. If you use clipless shoes on flat pedals, they probably won’t offer you as good a grip as wearing flat-soled rubber shoes.
