Can I Boondock in Red Rock Canyon?
Red Rock Conservation Area – Free Dispersed Camping
You can camp for free all along Lovell Canyon Road near Mountain Springs
(on the back side of Red Rocks, away from Vegas). You simply follow 160 through the canyon, then turn right on Lovell Canyon, and choose your perfect spot.

Does Red Rock Canyon campground have showers?
There are no showers
. Shade structures are available throughout the group sites and many of the individual sites. Restrooms are vault toilets. Water faucets for drinking water are located throughout the campground.

Where can I park overnight at Red Rocks?
There are
3 park and ride parking lots at I-70 and Morrison road
, right down the road from Red Rocks. They allow overnight parking, but I'm not sure about camping.
How far is Red Rock from the strip?
Red Rock Canyon is located about
25 miles
west of the Las Vegas Strip. From the Strip and Downtown Las Vegas, the Conservation Area can be approached from Charleston Boulevard, which will turn into SR 159. Or from the south, take Blue Diamond Rd/SR 160 west to the Junction with Route 159.

Is Red Rock Canyon Campground free?

Despite popular belief,
there is free, dispersed camping near Red Rock Canyon
. The area is located 12 miles south of the main Red Rock Scenic Loop entrance and 5 miles east of Black Velvet Road. The area is remote and quiet.
Can you climb at Red Rocks?
In addition to
hundreds of one-pitch sport climbs
, Red Rock boasts an unusually large number of very long, high quality routes of moderate technical difficulty. Many fine climbs of grade III or IV in length lie in the 5.6 to 5.8 range.
Do you need a permit to climb at Red Rocks?
People can request a permit by clicking the “Buy a Pass” button on the website and picking the parking lot where you are parked and the route you are climbing.

Climbing in Red Rock can be practised all year round, but hardly anybody ventures to do in in the heat of summer when the temperature in the shade can reach + 30°C and higher.

! Our day spent at Red Rock Canyon was our sons' favorite day trip from Vegas. There are hiking trails that are full of fun opportunities to clamor over rocks, tuck yourself into gaping holes that have formed in the rock face, or view petroglyphs.

There are four parking lots at the venue that fill up on a first-come, first-served basis
. The Upper North Lot offers by far the closest distance from parking to seating and tends to fill up the fastest.
Is tailgating allowed at Red Rocks?
Tailgating must be confined to the rear of your vehicle and not interfere with the parking of other vehicles
. Tents and canopies are not permitted. Due to the risk of fire, open flame fires and charcoal grills are prohibited. Small gas-controlled grills are allowed unless there are temporary fire bans in effect.

Which is Better Red Rock or Valley of Fire?
If you are visiting both parks, we recommend going to see
Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas first to avoid comparing it so heavily with Valley of Fire State Park
. Just know that the two parks are different, but both are fun places to explore and hike.
What is Red Rock known for?
The great sandstone cliffs
