. A backpacker’s lunch can be a somewhat hurried affair. Most seasoned hikers prefer to prepare something fast and move along as quickly as possible.
How long does hummus take to dehydrate?
Taste for salt and adjust as needed. Spread the hummus paste on dehydrator trays covered with non-stick sheets or parchment paper. Dehydrate at 130°F/ 55°C for about
2-4 hours
or until completely dry and crumbly. Let cool to room temperature, then grind dehydrated hummus into a powder.
Can you dehydrate store bought hummus?

. Weight will be less of an issue, so you can pack fresh fruit, hard cheeses, cans of tuna and other heavier items. If you are planning a longer hike, pack lighter. Opt for dried fruit instead of fresh and use lightweight tuna pouches that take up less space.
