Can I backpack in Chacos?

. Rocks, sand, and dirt become your worst enemy. Early on, all of this can slip between the strap and your skin and cause blisters and little rub-raws. Eventually, your feet will callus over and these little buggers will be no worry of yours.

, but give the best arch support of any sandal I know of. Buy them from a vendor like REI and see how they work. I wouldn’t shy from fair weather day hikes with light loads, but I would have to be a real convert to take on multi-day trips with rough trails and cold mud.

Can you hike the Narrows in sandals?
Hiking in the river is challenging, and it’s easy to roll an ankle or smash a toe.
Sandals or other open-toe shoes will not protect your toes from getting crushed between the rocks as your feet slide around
. You’ll want shoes that will drain out the river water so that you don’t hold onto all of the water weight.
Are Chacos waterproof?
Yes, Chacos are waterproof, but not completely
. They’re made of a water-resistant Polyurethane footbed that dries quickly and doesn’t absorb a lot of water, making them an excellent choice for spending the day outside or getting wet.
Are all Chacos zero drop?

. And while they are incredibly comfortable, you will probably want something more specialized. They do have some sandals with back straps that are okay for some light hiking activities, and I will show you those.
Do Chaco sandals float?

Are Chacos good for the river?
Chaco made the best river sandal
. They hold to your foot well and are almost like flipper if you have to swim in them. By far the best footwear to have if you are swimming in a river. The downside is the lack of toe protection which makes it hard to stuff your foot under a thwart to keep yourself in a paddle raft.
Does Chaco still use Vibram?
The Yampa and Uniweep outsoles no longer exist, but
if you’re really set on keeping a Vibram sole, you still have options
. You can choose to custom order your sandals, and select from the Colorado or Terreno soles, both made from Vibram rubber.
Why are Chacos so uncomfortable?
The heat from the oven can cause the adhesive that’s between the footbed and the outsole to dissolve
– then you’ll just have a broken pair of Chacos that you cant’t wear at all. The most important thing in making your Chacos comfortable is getting the arch support in the correct place for your feet.
Can you wear Chacos all day?
They’re absolutely fantastic sandals for every day wear
, but may cause discomfort for some with long days in the parks if you’re not used to having such a stiff sole under your arch while standing for hours at a time. But once they break in they will literally last you forever.
Are all Chacos heavy?
Chacos are considerably heavier than Tevas
. A pair of Chacos weighs 21.2 oz (over a pound) and a pair of Tevas weighs 14.6 oz. I’ve never grabbed my Chacos to take backpacking as a camp shoe, only my Tevas and that’s solely because of the weight of the sandals.
Why do Chacos make my feet stink?
Our continuous webbing system features straps that wrap around the foot and through the midsole for a custom fit. Over the course of wear,
grit and sand can get in the channels where the straps enter and exit the midsole
, which can create excess odor and cause your straps to stick.
Are men’s Chacos same as women’s?
On paper,
the two brands follow the same sizing scheme and are most likely to be the same in sizing
. Neither comes in half-sizes either. However, there is still a chance that you may need a different width or even a different size, depending on the model.
