It takes 5.5 x elimination half-life of a medicine before it is eliminated from your system. Accutane (isotretinoin) has an elimination half-life of 21 hours, therefore it will take 5.5 x 21 hours =
115.5 hours
(approximately 4.8 days) before it will be cleared from your system. Side effects may last longer.
How can I make Accutane more effective?
Take with food
: Isotretinoin absorbs twice as well if you take it with meals. Isotretinoin is a lipophilic medication. One study showed 1.5-2 times greater absorption in the fed (large breakfast with 28 grams of fat) versus a fasting state. This difference in absorption is not a trivial concern.
Can you take Accutane with peanut butter?
Take your medicine with food for better absorption (preferably with fatty food –
one spoonful of peanut butter should qualify as enough fat

safe to use during Accutane is a topical vitamin C serum

Can you take Accutane without a meal?
Accutane® and its generic products should be taken with food
. Absorica® may be taken with or without food. Do not crush, break, chew, or suck the capsule. It is very important that you take isotretinoin only as directed by your doctor.
Can I drink coffee with Accutane?
Blood tests for Isotretinoin are done when fasting in order to be able to assess the Triglyceride levels properly. Fasting means
nothing to eat or drink other than water or black tea or coffee for 8hrs before the blood test

Can you get piercing while on Accutane?
Waxing to remove facial or body hair is prohibited during your course of Accutane and for 1 month after discontinuing. Piercings –

headache, dizziness, vomiting, stomach pain, warmth or tingling in your face, swollen or cracked lips, and loss of balance or coordination
