after applying spot-on flea treatment, bathe your dog with flea-killing shampoo. Remember to be gentle with your pup’s already-irritated skin. Don’t overuse the shampoo, and lather it gently. Distract your dog for five to 10 minutes while the shampoo does its job, and then rinse your pet thoroughly.

Should I reapply flea treatment after bath?

Can I reapply flea treatment after bath?
The known safe answer is to
wait the period of time the product is supposed to work, typically 30 days, before reapplying
. An alternative is to bathe the pet in a detergent shampoo (meant to strip off skin oils) and reapply after 24 hours.
Why is my dog still scratching after flea treatment?
It’s fairly typical after you’ve applied Itch Flea for there to be a period of hyperactivity amongst the fleas as the product takes effect, and this can cause an increase in itching
. It should settle down though after 24 hours.
How do I know Frontline is working?
A. The active ingredient in FRONTLINE (fipronil) kills fleas by affecting their nervous system, making them hyperactive before dying. These dying fleas often rise to the top of your pet’s haircoat, so
the presence of visible fleas after treating your pet

Can I touch my dog after flea treatment?
You can handle, stroke and cuddle your pet as usual as soon as the application site is dry
. In the meantime treated animals should not be handled and children should not be allowed to play or sleep with them.

. Just make sure you continue treating for fleas, even in the winter.
Can you apply Frontline Plus after a bath?
If FRONTLINE Plus is to be applied after a bath,
make sure your pet is completely dry before application
. FRONTLINE Plus remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours.
Can I use flea shampoo two days in a row?
You shouldn’t need to use flea shampoo unless your dog has an active flea infestation. But if that’s the case,
you can wash your dog 1-2 times a week, but not long term

How often can you bathe a dog with flea shampoo?
A dog with a flea infestation should be treated immediately with medication and a flea dip bath. However, flea shampoos are notoriously harsh on a pooch’s skin. Therefore, be certain you don’t try to give your dog with fleas a bath every day.
Once a week
should be enough.
Is it OK if Frontline gets on fur?
We’ve done that, too. We use Frontline Plus and, supposedly, it’s supposed to be applied on the skin, but it says that it gets absorbed into the skin from the hair, or something like that.
You should be o.k. as long as most of it gets on the skin

What happens if dog licks Frontline?
Answer: If licking occurs shortly after application of Frontline Spray Treatment,
a brief period of hyper-salivation may occur due to its bitter taste of the excipient
. It should be applied at the back of the neck or in other areas where it cannot be reached by the dog to be licked.

The minimum time to wait between two treatments of FRONTLINE HomeGard® is 6 months
. It is not necessary to use FRONTLINE HomeGard® repeatedly, if you are regularly treating your cat or dog with an effective flea and tick treatment such as FRONTLINE® spot-on products.
What happens if you apply Frontline too soon?
Symptoms of toxicity can include
twitching, hypersalivation, trembling and seizures
. If you start to see tremors shortly after applying the flea treatment, the best thing to do is bathe Fluffy or Fido in lukewarm water with a gentle dish soap like Dawn or Palmolive.
What kills fleas on dogs instantly?
The most common product used to kill fleas on dogs instantly is
Nitenpyram, more commonly known as Capstar
. This single-use tablet is administered orally and kills fleas within 30 minutes. It is recommended that you contain your pet in a small area when using Capstar.
What do you do when Frontline doesn’t work?
Speak to your veterinarian about this first if your flea medicine is not working. One Frontline alternative is to
switch to another topical product
. Another alternative is to supplement the topical product with another product that works internally, such as Capstar.
