How do I know if I fractured my zygomatic bone?
- Flatness of the cheek.

How do you fix a zygomatic fracture?
Most zygomatic complex fractures can be treated solely by
an intraoral approach and rigid fixation at the zygomaticomaxillary buttress
. Further exposure of the zygomaticofrontal junction or inferior orbital rim is necessary for severely displaced fractures, which require additional fixation.
What happens if the zygomatic bone is damaged?
Patients may develop trismus (i.e. the inability to fully open the mouth)
and have difficulty with chewing
. There may also be bleeding through the nose, which depends on the severity of the injury. The cheekbone of these patients may be flattened due to the malar eminence being depressed.

Such a fracture also extends into the orbital floor through or adjacent to the infraorbital canal. Dislocation of the fractured zygomatic complex may thus result in injury to or compression of
