What is the difference between Vivelle and Vivelle-Dot?
Vivelle-Dot (NDA 020538) is an estradiol transdermal system that was approved based upon demonstration of bioequivalence to Vivelle. Vivelle-Dot delivers
the same
daily dose of estradiol as Vivelle but does so from a smaller active surface area. Vivelle-Dot is currently marketed for the same indications as Vivelle.
What is MINIVELLE used for?
This medication is a female hormone (estrogen). It is used by women
to help reduce symptoms of menopause
(such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness). These symptoms are caused by the body making less estrogen.
Is MINIVELLE brand or generic?

Does estrogen patches cause weight gain?

Can you swim with Vivelle patches?
It is best to change your patch on the same days of each week to help you remember.
You may take
a bath, shower, or swim while using this medicine. Doing so will not affect the patch.
How long does it take Minivelle to start working?
I was started on the lowest dose of the Minivelle patch, 0.0375mg for treatment of hot flashes and difficulty sleeping. I started to feel benefits fairly quickly,
within a week
, and as time has gone on I've been feeling more benefits of using the estrogen patch.
What side effects does estradiol have?
Stomach upset, nausea/vomiting, bloating, breast tenderness, headache, or weight changes
may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell your doctor promptly if you see the tablet in your stool.
Where is the best place to put an estrogen patch?
You should apply estradiol patches to clean, dry,
cool skin in the lower stomach area
, below your waistline. Some brands of patches may also be applied to the upper buttocks or the hips.
