. Small in size and centered around critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and reflective discussion, you learn from distinguished faculty how to meet and manage the rigorous academic demands of our world-class university.
How many credits do you need to graduate from UB?
Candidates for bachelor's degrees must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours, 30 of which must have been completed at the University at Buffalo campus. If you are preparing to graduate (have completed
90 credits
) you must Apply for Graduation in your HUB Student Center (via MyUB).
How many credits can you take at UB?
Students can register for a maximum of
19 credits
during the fall and spring semesters. Students who wish to register for more than 19 credit hours during the fall or spring semester must consult with their academic advisor for approval. There are also credit limits for summer and winter sessions.
Does Buffalo accept AP credits?
Advanced standing and university credit may be awarded to students who complete college-level work in high school.
UB awards credit based on AP exam scores
, IB exam scores for certificates and diplomas, GCE exam scores and CLEP exam scores.
How many years of language does UBC require?
These
four years
must be immediately prior to attending UBC. You will need to submit a transcript as soon as possible to UBC's Undergraduate Admissions Office.
Do I need French 12 to get into UBC?
A beginner's Language 11 does not satisfy this requirement. Applicants may present any International Baccalaureate (IB) Ab Initio Language in place of Language 11. Equivalent courses offered in French will also be accepted. (
Français 12 is not accepted in
place of English 12.)
Does ASL count as a second language UBC?
Along with offering courses in a wide variety of spoken languages, UBC also offers
two introductory ASL
(American Sign Language) courses. If you choose to take ASL 100 and 101 at UBC (3 credits each), you'll have to take two more courses in another language to fulfill the language requirement.

During summer session, students may enroll in a maximum of
14 credits
