Based in Canton, Ohio, and
started in 1995

They are not legit alternatives
. As noted in the above legal disclaimer of one of the largest health sharing ministries – there is one thing you should take their advice on: “This program should never be considered as a substitute for an insurance policy”.
Liberty HealthShare is a healthcare sharing ministry whose members share medical expenses.
Members pay a monthly “sharing” contribution which pays for the medical expenses of other members
.
They are unethical
. I am going through some medical issues and they still are not paying my doctors. I've called liberty and emailed several times trying to get them to release payment since they say they are payable but they claim they can't pay bc They don't have the funds.
Preventative Sharing
Liberty HealthShare: Annual wellness visits are shared
up to $400 per visit
. After two months of membership, mammograms, prostate examinations, and cologuard are shareable every other year or yearly after 50 years of age.

Which health sharing ministry is best?
Best Overall Healthshare Plan:
OneShare Health
With low contribution amounts, 24/7 telemedicine, and 100% shared preventative care, OneShare health is perhaps the best all-around performer when it comes to health care cost sharing programs.
Are health sharing payments tax deductible?
Your share payment is
not deductible
for federal income tax purposes as a charitable donation or as a medical expense.
Currently, there are more than a million members of healthshare plans, the driving motivation being the affordability. The monthly contribution amount, much like a premium, is often half what a typical insurance plan would cost. Because they're not insurance,
they cannot be “HSA-qualified.”
Medi-Share has qualities similar to traditional insurance, such as a deductible and premium (the monthly share amount). It costs $50 to apply to Medi-Share, and there is a $120 one-time membership fee with the first monthly payment. Mira provides an affordable alternative to health insurance at just
$45 per month
.
Health-share plans are
cooperatives – often faith-based – with members agreeing to cover a certain portion of each other's medical costs
. That sounds a lot like insurance, but there are important legal and practical differences.
Health Care Sharing: How It Works
As part of a health care sharing plan, you are responsible for paying in a certain share amount each month (like a premium) as well as an “annual unshared amount” for your own expenses (like a deductible) that your medical expenses must exceed before the plan shares your expenses.
You need to
send written notice of your cancellation, including the reason for cancellation, by the 20th day of the month, prior to the month in which your sharing contributions will end
.
Does Liberty Mutual charge a cancellation fee?

. Drivers can cancel a Liberty Mutual policy by calling 1 (800) 290-8711.
Does Liberty Mutual bill in advance?
Yes, Liberty Mutual does bill in advance
. Liberty Mutual's billing process allows customers to pay their car insurance premium either monthly or in full upfront, and coverage won't go into effect until a payment is made.
Does Dave Ramsey recommend life insurance?

because it's affordable. You can get 10–12 times your income in your payout, and you can choose a length of term to cover those years of your life where your loved ones are dependent on that income.
