Can you log into an old Common App account?
Information. In order to log in to a previously created account,
you must have logged in sometime between August 1, 2020 and July 28, 2021

pressing “Continue” at the end of each section will save your work
. As a result, logging out and resuming your application at a later time won’t erase your progress.

The Reapplication Process is available to students who have applied previously and wish to be considered for a future term
. You have the option of going through the Reapplication Process for up to two admission terms following the original term in which you applied.
How long do colleges keep applications?
Specifically, schools must keep an F or M student’s admission record for
at least three years
after the student is no longer pursuing a full course of study at the institution or the end of any period of post-completion OPT.
Can I create two Common App accounts?
You may not create more than one account of each type
. You may only create one (1) First Year account and one (1) Transfer account since the system will not allow duplicate accounts.
Does Common App carry over?
Most of your answers from the Common App tab will rollover at that time
but we may ask some new questions. Any answers that you have in the My Colleges tab (college-specific questions) and any recommender invitations will not carry over in August.
Should I self report grades on Common App?
It’s also important to note that colleges won’t view PE grades as particularly important when evaluating your academic performance, but Common App schools will usually receive your full transcripts anyway, so
self-reporting these classes is not essential
in this case.
What does the red exclamation mark on Common App mean?
It means
now that you have applied to a school, they want to show you resources available to you for applying to financial aid
. You don’t have to complete anything that I am aware of.
Should I indent my college essay?
Should I indent or us paragraph breaks in my college essay?
Either. Just be consistent
. The exception here is if you’re pasting into a box that screws up your formatting—for example, if, when you copy your essay into the box, your indentations are removed, go with paragraph breaks.
Can Common App be edited after submitting?
Once an application or writing supplement has been submitted to any institution,
you cannot make any changes to that application
(just as if you had dropped it in the mail), and we are not permitted to make changes on your behalf.
What is the disadvantage of Common Application?
The only disadvantage, which students can directly control themselves, is that
they should not apply to schools that may not be the best match for their interests

Is the Common App safe?
Common App employs industry-proven standards and technologies to protect the security of your information
. Every page rendered through this online application, including the application fee payment page (if applicable), and all information you send, is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security) technology.
Does Harvard use Common App?
You are welcome to apply to Harvard using the Common Application or the Coalition Application
. The Common Application will open on August 1 for applicants to start completing their application. The Coalition Application is being developed in partnership with Scoir/Technolutions for the 2022-23 application cycle.

It’s perfectly fine to apply to the same college twice or more, but only for different terms
. But you can only apply to a college too much even if there is no limit to the number of times you can do so — in many instances, applying several times to the same college is just a waste of precious time and money.

No. Colleges that offer both the Common App and the Coalition App don’t have a preference either way
. At Bucknell and other schools that accept both, admissions officers want students to use whichever application suits them best.
How many Common App essays are required 2021?
Write only
one essay
(plus any supplements).
You’ll submit one essay through the Common Application for all your schools. Some colleges may ask you to also answer a few supplemental questions.

to the essay after your first application submission. To edit your personal essay, go back into the Common App tab and click on the Writing section. Simply click within the text box and make any changes that are needed.

Students sometimes ask us whether or not they can submit different versions of the Common Application essay to different schools. As we’ve said before,
the Common App is changeable
. So yes, you can absolutely change the essay, submit it to a school, change it, and submit it again.
Should I give my Common App essay a title?

A title is not required for the Common App essay
, but you are, of course, more than welcome to include one if you’d like.
What should you not do in a college essay?
- Never rehash your academic and extracurricular accomplishments.
- Never write about a “topic”
- Never start with a preamble.
- Never end with a “happily ever after” conclusion.
- Never pontificate.
