If your iPhone 7 home button breaks or needs to be replaced, it will only work if it is recalibrated at an official Apple store. If you don't have AppleCare+ or aren't under warranty, the repair will cost
$319 for an iPhone 7 and $349 for an iPhone 7 Plus
.
To fix a broken home button,
you should install a specially-made, universal-style home button
. Note that these replacements only work as a button; Touch ID will not function.
Home button repair falls under Apple's “other damage” repair pricing category, which costs a flat fee of
$99 under AppleCare
.
How do I fix my iPhone 7 Home Button Not Working?
Fixing the home button not working problem on your iPhone 7 might be easy through a hard reset process. Simply
press and hold the sleep/wake button and the volume down button simultaneously for about 10 seconds
. If the reset is successful, try pressing the home button to check its functionality.
Settings>Tap ‘General'>Select ‘Accessibility'>Tap ‘Home Button'. Then
toggle the switch ‘Rest Finger to Open' to ‘on' position
. Now you can open your iPhone with touch ID without having to press the home button.
Take a can of compressed air and blast the connection port at the bottom of the phone
. Oftentimes this will clear out some of the gunk that may be causing the button to stick down. Use isopropyl alcohol. Drop a small amount of isopropyl alcohol onto the tip of a cotton swab.
Way 1.
While there are many physical reasons why your Android Home button does not work, one of the common reasons is that
your button has collected too much dust over time
. This is usually the case when you do not clean your phone regularly.
Restart the Device
Restarting your device proves to be a masterstroke when your Android phone's virtual keys suffer the effect of a normal software malware. Reboot your device by long-pressing the Power Button. If you're lucky, you'll find the home key functioning fine as soon as your phone restarts.
That means you can
make an appointment at the Genius Bar in your nearest Apple Store to have Apple repair your Home button for free
. Unfortunately, most iPhones with a physical Home button are more than a year old. But you can still pay for a repair from Apple or a third-party service provider.
If you damage the Touch ID hardware,
it can only be replaced by Apple
. If the connector doesn't pry up easily, use a hair dryer or iOpener to heat and soften the adhesive securing the connector, and then try again.
iOS has a neat feature that helps when hardware buttons stop working. To activate this, go to the Settings app, and select General, then Accessibility. Scroll down to the Interaction section, and tap AssistiveTouch. Now tap the button next to AssistiveTouch so that it turns green and slides to the on position.
The most probable cause is
dust or dirt lodged inside
. You can fix this with a compressed air can or some rubbing alcohol. Of course, the issue could also be due to a software bug or glitch. You'll have to either calibrate your home button, update your system, or restore iOS.
