The original B.C. Rich Mockingbird used a whole hell of a lot of maple, which made them heavy and bright. They had a lot of tone controls and DiMarzio Super Distortion pickups, so most people thought they were on the bright sounding side, but they were pretty versatile hard rock guitars .
