. Your role is to prepare your home carefully, and give the puppies the care they need in those crucial first few days.
Is it OK for my dog to give birth outside?
You must provide her with prenatal care and a safe, comfortable location to give birth. Ideally, the mother dog should be allowed to raise her puppies indoors.
If the dog must have her puppies outside, you should provide an adequate whelping box.
What is the best way for dog to give birth?
To reduce the chance of a problem, set up a
whelping box
for your dog well before she's due to give birth, and make sure it's positioned in a warm, quiet, calm place way from the busy areas of your home. Keep an eye on your dog while she's giving birth and only intervene if absolutely necessary.
Should you leave a pregnant dog alone?
During the final 3 weeks of pregnancy, the mother dog should be completely isolated from other dogs at home

, but there are a few things to keep in mind: Make sure that the bathtub or place where we bathe them has a non-slip surface to avoid falls and bumps. We can use special non-slip bath mats or even a simple folded towel. Always use a shampoo approved by our vet.
