Camping at Everglades National Park
A wilderness camping permit is required for all wilderness campgrounds
, and are only issued one day prior to your arrival at the Gulf Coast and Flamingo visitor centers.

There are three types of backcountry campsites in the Everglades: Chickee Sites: Elevated wood platforms with roofs where you can place a free-standing tent
. These rise above the rivers and bays where dry land isn't always accessible.

What clothes to wear in the Everglades?
We recommend you wear
shorts, a t-shirt or blouse, and a pair of flip flops or sandals
. It rains frequently during the summer in Florida, and our airboat rides run rain or shine. You'll want to keep a poncho on hand if you want to stay dry!
