Advantage II breaks the flea lifecycle by stopping larval fleas from ever developing
. This means your cat or dog receives complete flea protection for an entire month, at all stages of the flea lifecycle. Advantage II for Dogs also kills lice.
Which dog flea treatment is toxic to cats?

What happens if a cat licks Advantage 2?
The product is
bitter tasting and salivation may occur for a short time if the cat licks the product immediately after treatment
. Treatment at the base of the skull will minimize the opportunity for the cat to lick the product. Do not allow the product to run off.
Is advantage toxic to cats?

Part the hair where the cat’s head and neck come together (base of the skull) and place the tip of the tube on the skin, gently squeezing to expel the entire solution out onto the skin. Lift the tube away from their skin, while maintaining pressure on the tube to make sure the product has all been squeezed out.

Why can’t you use dog flea shampoo on cats?
You should avoid using dog shampoo on your cat, mainly because
it may contain harmful flea medication or essential oils
. If you know the shampoo doesn’t contain those ingredients, you can probably get away with using it once, but it will likely dry out your pet’s skin due to the pH difference.
Can you use advantage for cats more than once a month?
One convenient application of Advantage II cat flea treatment keeps working for 1 month.
If your cat still has fleas after the 1 month, we’d recommend treatment for another month until the fleas are gone
