How fast does Ick Guard work?
In the note section of the instructions it states that if ick persists to dose every 24 hours until it is gone. Ick has a life cycle of 7 days, so you can generally expect it to take
a max of once a day for 7 days
. However, if the tank is in good condition overall, it may clear in just 2 or 3 doses.
Should I do water changes while treating for Ich?
While you are turning up the temperature it’s time to start your daily water changes
. Yes, I said daily. Because it’s easiest to kill the Ick when it is in the aquarium and not on the fish it’s important to take as much water out of the aquarium (and therefore as much Ick) as possible every day.
Will a UV sterilizer kill Ich?
The ich has to travel through the UV for the appropriate time to kill it. Properly setup UV will reduce amount of ich, but will not get rid of it as all of the ich will not go through the UV before infecting a fish. Better off with Hypo or copper.

. It isn’t as strong as other medications, but it did successfully treat my tank, including my bristlenose pleco and my algae eaters. I also later found baby malaysian trumpet snails, so it obviously didn’t hurt them. It didnt seem to clear my ick problem.
Does ick live in filter?

(rock,filter media, socks,heaters,sand ect..) 73 days fallow is the only way to rid of them of it that involves removing it to dry out COMPLETELY to ensure the ich is gone.

Melafix and Pimafix wont treat Ick
, They will only help heal the wounds from the parasites as to where it wont cause a secondary bacterial infection on the fish. Normally use the medications as prescribed by the company.
