, even May and October are questionable. There’s few campgrounds in the mountains that remain open year round, most open for the season in mid to late May and close again in early September to early October depending on the location.

. And a ranger/warden WILL tap on your window in the middle of the night (voice of youthful experience) to remind you of that. You can do so in a campground; no tent needed.

Is Banff or Jasper better?
Banff, without a doubt, has the better location in terms of ease and access to the mountains
. Jasper is much more of a haul to get to, and if coming from Calgary, you’ll have to pass through Banff and drive the Icefields Parkway to reach Jasper.
Should I stay longer in Banff or Jasper?
If your schedule permits, I would recommend
a bare minimum of 3 days in Banff National Park (including Lake Louise) and 2-3 days in Jasper National Park
, with an additional day to be spend driving the extremely scenic Icefields Parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper.
Is Banff or Canmore better?
Downtown Canmore is popular on summer weekends, but it’s more manageable than Downtown Banff with far fewer crowds.
