Sure there is a bit of a narrowing, but

a bike should fit easily

. This is just supposition on my part, but after viewing the trunk of the 1 coupe at the Detroit Auto Show, I've fit my mountain bike (admittedly not a road bike) in smaller trunks than that with seats down.
