. Keep fires small. Bring your own firewood. You may not gather park vegetation, whether living or dead, to fuel your campfire.
Can you make a fire at a campsite?
Ideally, fires should be constructed on bare dirt as it’s the safest and most convenient terrain.
If you’re camping in a campsite then make sure to follow the guidelines and use the designated areas
, and if you’re camping elsewhere please make sure your fire is away from any flammable woodland debris.

. Reservations can be made the same day or up to 6 months in advance and can be booked on recreation.gov. Book your site before entering the park. Cell service is unreliable and nonexistent in Joshua Tree National Park.
Can you camp outside of Joshua Tree?
Overflow camping is available on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) property just outside Joshua Tree National Park
. Keep in mind that BLM campsites have no water, no toilet facilities, and all trash must be packed out. BLM camping is not permitted within 300 feet of the roadway.

Where is dispersed camping allowed in Arizona?
Other dispersed camping opportunities are prevalent in the
Tusayan Ranger District of Kaibab National Forest
(south of the national park). Forest Road 302 east of Tusayan is also home to some of my favorite dispersed campsites in Arizona, although it’s not as convenient to the Grand Canyon as Coconino Rim Road.
