To use the Sewing Kit: the player must hold the item that needs to be repaired in the hands and drag the Sewing Kit to the Combine slot then hold down the left mouse button to repair the item . This item can be used a limited number of times, since its condition will degrade with each use.

The Field Backpack is a backpack in DayZ Standalone. It has the highest capacity out of all of the backpacks available in the game.
In general, only ruined items can’t be used . With only exception for clothes and backpacks, which look worse and give worse protection.
Long story short to fix this, You will need to exit DayZ, Open up your launch perimiters (In the properties of DayZ) then input “-newui” (Without the quotes obviously) next launch up DayZ which will take a fair bit of time and go to the car tent/Big Military Tent and done!
The Sharpening Stone is a type of equipment in DayZ Standalone. It can be used to repair sharp items, restoring knives and axes to Worn status from either Damaged or Badly Damaged. In order to use the Sharpening Stone: the player must enter their inventory and drag it over the item they wish to repair.
Tarp is a type of equipment in DayZ. It can be used to craft a Tarp Shelter . It may also be used to replace ruined side of a Canopy Tent (Wall), Car Tent (Entry), Medium Tent (Entry), Large Tent (Door / Window).

The screwdriver occupies two vertical inventory slots. It can be commonly found inside industrial and residential loot spawns. The screwdriver can be used to open canned food . However, unlike the can opener, opening canned food with the screwdriver will cause a certain percentage of the contents to spill out.
The Pipe Wrench is a type of melee weapon in DayZ Standalone. It can be used to repair engines in vehicles all the way up to pristine condition .
The pipe wrench can be found in most loot spawns including residential, industrial and military . It cannot be found in deer stands.

New backpacks can be found in all types of spawn locations like houses, supermarkets, cow sheds, offices and other Residential locations . BEWARE: There is a distinct difference between the Patrol Pack (coyote) (8) and the Backpack (coyote) (24) the same goes for the Czech Vest Pouch (8) and the Czech Backpack (24).
The Ghillie Suit is a piece of camouflage clothing in DayZ Standalone which fully covers the player’s body. Wearing one occupies the backpack slot preventing you from equipping one , but occupies only 30 slots and can easily fit into endgame backpacks, such as the Hunting, Mountain, and Combat.
Ruined clothing can’t protect you or the contents as well . That said, a ruined rain coat or gorka (sp?) jacket works as well as a pristine one to keep you dry.
The Leather Sewing Kit is a type of equipment in DayZ Standalone. It repairs compatible items in ‘Damaged’ or ‘Badly Damaged’ condition to ‘Worn’ status and is also used in crafting some Leather items .
Once the shirt is ruined, the entire damage will be going to the items inside it , rather than being split between the shirt and its contents. And once these are ruined you will be taking full damage from each attack to your chest.
