We are delighted to deliver some ‘paw-some' news! We recently trialled a dog-friendly policy within the Visitor Centre and, following 100% positive feedback on the trial, we can now confim we are now fully dog-friendly.

Can you just walk onto the Giants Causeway?


Pedestrian acess to the Giant's Causeway is free

. However, if you wish to use any of the facilities at the site, including but excluding the Visitor Information Service, the visitor experience charge will apply.

Do you have to pay to enter Giants Causeway?


Giant's Causeway is free to visit

! You do not need to pay the Visitor Centre to see the Giant's Causeway. The Giant's Causeway Visitor Centre is not part of the Giant's Causeway. It is built around 1 mile from the actual Causeway.

Are dogs allowed on Portrush Beach?



Dog owners visiting the of Downhill, Castlerock and Portrush can walk their dogs in the designated areas clearly marked on signage

. Dogs are however excluded from the Salmon Rock beach at Portballintrae.

How do I avoid paying at Giants Causeway?

Firstly, if you are a walker/hiker,

park in Portballintrae for free and walk around the coast or alongside the steam railway line to the Causeway

. This is a nice walk. Just go then along the back of the Visitor Centre by The Causeway Hotel and turn left. Don't pay the £8.50.

Why is rope bridge closed?

We are delighted to have begun a phased reopening of Carrick-a-Rede, which was closed in full in March 2020

due to the COVID-19 pandemic

. However, the Rope Bridge remains closed at this time. The safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors is our top priority.
