Can I travel before OPT is approved?
International Travel is NOT recommended before the OPT is approved
and before you have received your EAD card. If your OPT application is rejected or denied while you are outside of the U.S., you will not able to re-enter the U.S. in F-1 status.
Can I travel while my OPT application is in process?
International travel while an OPT application is pending can be risky and is not generally recommended
. If you have an OPT application pending and believe you must travel, you are required to have the following to return: Passport (valid for six months after you plan to re-enter the US)
Can I travel with pending EAD application?
In general,
travel is not recommended when an individual has a request pending with USCIS

The requirements related to the Indian travel ban are met by OPT students, because they are treated as returning students, who can travel like other continuing students no earlier than 30 days before August 1, 2021. The second set of requirements is common to all OPT holders: You must have a valid passport and F-1 visa.
Can you work remotely from another country on OPT?
Students currently participating in OPT, including STEM OPT,
may work remotely if their employer has an office outside the United States or the employer can assess student engagement using electronic means
. Students participating in STEM OPT do need to submit an updated Form I-983 to report remote work.
Is it safe to travel on OPT?
Absolutely NO!
Travel is not recommended
. Your departure from the U.S. prior to the approval of your EAD card will cancel your OPT application.
Can I be unemployed while STEM OPT is pending?
Yes, temporarily
. Under standard post-completion OPT, you receive a 90 day allotment to be unemployed. When you receive the STEM extension, you receive an additional 60 days allotment to be unemployed giving you a total of 150 days of unemployment during your entire OPT time.
Can I change my employers while my STEM OPT application is pending?
Yes, you are allowed to change employers while the STEM application is pending
. If you are still within the initial 12 months of OPT, you can work for the new employer until your 12 month OPT ends.
Can OPT be denied?
Normally,
if your OPT/STEM OPT Extension is rejected, you must file a completely new application withUSCIS
