. There are many methods and options available when choosing a stain.

. Allow to dry a minimum of 6 hours before applying another coat. If dry time is longer than 10 hours before applying another coat; sanding is REQUIRED. Good cross-ventilation is recommended.

Can you put tung oil over old varnish?

Finishers refer to them as film finishes because they create an impervious coating that won’t permit oils to pass. Consequently, if you like the idea of applying tung oil finish,

don’t apply varnish first

. The tung oil will just sit on top of the varnish and leave a sticky deposit.

Can you spray on Waterlox?


Spraying Waterlox finishes is possible using both a conventional or HVLP (high-volume, low-pressure) spray gun

. HVLP is recommended due to less overspray and better transfer efficiency. We do not recommend spraying our UNIVERSAL Tung Oil, H2OLOX or TRUETONE products.
