Why is Castelli so small?
For men’s sizing, in Italy, there were 4cm gaps between sizes which correlated directly to chest size. When letter-based label sizing was created (S, M, L), the space between sizes reflected these 4cm integers and this was reflected in Castelli’s garments, giving them their fit.
Should you size up with Castelli?

How good is Castelli?
I feel like
Castelli knows how to cradle your legs in proper support and compression
. There are simply no areas that feel uncomfortable or noticeable during a ride. The leg grippers stay put and everything tends to disappear. I have no issues wearing these for 3-4 consecutive days as well.
Is Le Col sizing accurate?
As far as bibshorts and bib tights go,
the sizing is far more consistent
– I am a small in all of them. I have both Le Col and Castelli jerseys, Le Col jerseys are slightly tighter, but not by a whole size.
Is Le Col better than Rapha?
Le Col gear, which like a lot of Italian-made garments, comes up extremely small and it’s worth ordering one or two sizes above what you normally would in t-shirts and jumpers.
Rapha isn’t much better
and it pays to err on the side of caution and order one size up on all tops.
