Anyone under the age of 18 does not have the same legal capacity as an adult to enter into a contract , such as making a room booking. All bookings itself should be made by someone 18 or over such as a parent, guardian or another adult who can take responsibility for payment or damages.
Age limits often come with party hostels that have a bar inside—they’ll limit people who are under 16 (or sometimes 18) from staying there . Some hostels that want to keep a younger vibe with similarly aged guests will restrict to under 30 or 40, but these are becoming rarer.
A two bedroom lockout is great if you go with families or friends. The units are connected with a connecting door, the smaller one is a studio/small one bedroom, the other is a full large one bedroom unit .
Hotels charging per person
Most major hotel chains do not charge you per person when only two guests are on the reservation in my experience, especially if you are staying at a standard hotel brand.
U: Understay – An understay is a hotel guest that leaves the hotel prior to date that they had originally indicated . Understays are therefore lost revenue for the hotel, which may be unable to sell the room to another guest to recoup the anticipated revenue.
I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels & never had anything taken . It does happen a lot though, I’ve heard so many stories. Best just to be ridiculously careful. Most hostels have lockers, always use them if they’re available and take a padlock to use (combination best so you don’t have to worry about losing a key).
You can gauge from hostel reviews whether a hostel is safe and secure or not . Look at recent reviews to see if anybody mentions theft or security levels and only stay in hostels that are rated highly for safety. You can also research the neighborhood of the hostel to see if it’s dangerous.
Hostels are dangerous , and terrible things will happen to you if you stay in one. We don’t know why movies have picked hostels as a fun place to make scary things happen, but we promise it’s just not the reality. Like we said before, hostels are mostly just full of broke travelers.
