stick to your skin after sensor insertion
. However, skin types differ and you may notice that your sensor patch begins to peel off before the end of your sensor session.

What is Dexcom and how does it work?
When used, a tiny sensor wire is inserted just underneath a person's skin using an automatic applicator. An adhesive patch holds the CGM sensor housing in place, so the sensor can
measure glucose readings in interstitial fluid
throughout the day and night.
Where can you wear dexcom?
Dexcom G6 sensors may be
inserted on the abdomen
, the back of the upper arm (indicated for patients age 2 years and older) or the upper buttocks (ages 2-17 years). Sensor placement is important and you will want to change your insertion site with each sensor.
Can you wear Dexcom G6 longer than 10 days?
The G6 is FDA approved for 10 day wear only
and it is possible that the sensor isn't as accurate the longer you wear it. I extend my sensors at my own risk, and so should you.
How much does a Dexcom continuous glucose monitor cost?
All CGM systems require a prescription in order to buy them. Dexcom G6's average retail cost is
about $400 for the receiver, $300 for 1 transmitter, and $420 for 3 sensors
(enough for 30 days). A transmitter has a 90-day battery life, but the sensors need to be replaced every 10 days.
How do you know when a dexcom transmitter is not good?
Starting at 3 weeks before the end of its battery life, the warnings count down the transmitter battery life until it has only
10 days
– one sensor session – left. If the transmitter battery has less than 10 days remaining, you won't be able to start a new session and will see “Pair New Transmitter” instead.
