1. Add your schools to Naviance, under “
Colleges I'm Applying To
.” *For Non-Common App Schools, log into your Naviance account and go to “Colleges I'm Applying To.” Then click “Add to this List.” *For Common App (www.commonapp.org) Schools, you will need to match your Common App account in Naviance.
- Click I have submitted my application.
- Update the App Type (Regular Decision, Early Decision, etc.)
- Update the Format you used (Paper or Online)
Log into Naviance Student. 2. Click Colleges I'm Applying To, and
then click the pink plus sign
. Be sure to indicate the type of application: regular decision, rolling admission, early action, etc.
Scroll down to the bottom of that screen and click on “College That I'm Attending”. Select the proper college from the dropdown and then click on “Update”. After you do this, click on the “About Me” tab, then click on the link to the “Senior Exit Survey” in the upper left hand corner, complete and submit the survey.
Add college names to the Colleges
I'm Applying To section. Add all the schools where you plan to apply, whether it will be by electronic or paper application. By entering the college names, you initiate the process that will allow your counselor to send your transcript and other materials.
For all Common App schools, you
need to go to the Common App (CA) website via Naviance and register for an account
(Important Note: If you add colleges to your CA list first, those colleges will automatically roll into the Naviance Colleges I'm Applying To list).
You can also “favorite” or add a college to your list by clicking the heart icon at the top of the college info page on Naviance. To delete colleges,
check the box in front of the college's name on the “Colleges I'm Thinking About
” list, and click “remove” at the top of the page.
Does the common app automatically send transcripts?
Your transcript will be sent directly to the Common App Online system
where it will be matched by your counselor with your school forms and submitted on your behalf. Once you have submitted your transcript to the Common App, your transcript is ready for submission to ALL of your Common App colleges.
Navigate to the Groups tab under Students tab. From this page, you can select a group, which will bring you to a filtered explore page with a list of the students in that group. To assign a counselor to this group,
click Select All, then in the Actions dropdown menu, click Assign Counselor

To set up your Naviance account as a new user you will
need to create a password and provide an email address
. If you have already registered, you can skip this step. registration will be your way to sign into your account. You may also sign in as a guest using the password, catholic.
Make sure to ask them at least
three weeks in advance
of deadlines. Then go to the COLLEGES tab on Naviance. Click on “Colleges I'm Applying To” and scroll down to Teacher Recommendations. Add the name of the teacher/counselor and add any important notes, such as deadlines, then select update requests.
Once you are logged in to Naviance go to the ‘Colleges' top tab. Then click on “Colleges I'm Applying To”
and in the box “match” your common application email with
your Naviance/Family Connection account.
How do I submit my common app?
Once you're ready to submit your application and pay your application fee, you simply need to go to
the “Review and Submit – Common App” section for
that specific college. Once you've confirmed that your application is ready to be submitted, you'll be routed to our third party payment vendor to pay your fee.
Naviance is a third-party vendor through which
recommendation forms can be submitted via Common App
