Primary socialization
Socialization prepares people to participate in a social group by teaching them its norms and expectations . Socialization has three primary goals: teaching impulse control and developing a conscience, preparing people to perform certain social roles, and cultivating shared sources of meaning and value.
Socialization is the process through which we learn the norms, customs, values, and roles of the society, from birth through death while enculturation is the process by which we learn the requirements of our surrounding culture and acquire the behaviours and values appropriate for this culture .
