The white spots you see on the fish is the mature stage of the parasites life cycle and will not be directly affected by treatment
. White spot treatments require two doses to catch the parasites at their most delicate stage.
Can your fish survive Ich?
This organism is an obligate parasite which means that
it cannot survive unless live fish are present
. It is capable of causing massive mortality within a short time. An outbreak of “Ich” is an emergency situation which requires immediate treatment: if left untreated, this disease may result in 100% mortality.
How long does white spot on fish take to clear?
WHITE SPOT CURE kills the Ich parasite,

Will ick go away on its own?
It is a natural part of the lifecycle of ich to drop off of the host for a while (hence the “success” of snake oil cures), but

to speed the disease through its lifecycle.

Rid-ich is a great ich killer and usually takes

to completely rid the ich once you add the medication. It’s a good idea to circulate the water, and remove any carbon.

The best ich treatment is

. Rather than treating the main aquarium, move the sick fish to a bare bottomed quarantine or treatment tank. This should be aerated and have the same water conditions as the main aquarium.
Should I separate my fish with ich?

all new additions, including fish, invertebrates, and plants, should be quarantined in a separate tank using separate equipment for four to six weeks

Is Ich caused by stress?

. If your fish get stressed, either by their environment, transportation, their tank mates or because they can’t remember if they left the stove on, their immune system get weakened and they will become susceptible to an ich infection.
Does Ich stay in your tank?
Since we know that the tomites can only survive for 48 hours without attaching to a fish, if we remove all of the fish and then raise the temperature to 80 °F,
the existing ich in the tank should be dead after 2 days
. To be safe, wait 4 days before returning the fish to the tank.

Can Ich live in the filter?
Yes anything in the tank will have ich
(rock,filter media, socks,heaters,sand ect..) 73 days fallow is the only way to rid of them of it that involves removing it to dry out COMPLETELY to ensure the ich is gone.
Can fish ick affect humans?
People can become infected through open wounds or by drinking contaminated water
. Young children and adults with weak immune systems are most commonly affected and may have diarrhea or blood infections.
