I would strongly suggest you avoid Iron Mountain Road and Needles highway with an RV . Both are listed on this website. There are videos on line that can give a visual. Iron Mountain has switch backs and spiral turns, Needles also has switchbacks.
Can you drive an RV to Sylvan Lake South Dakota?
If your RV is too big for those tunnels, you can still go to Sylvan Lake from the town of Custer with an RV if you travel on SD 89 . I would park Sylvan Lake which is at the west end of the Needles Highway. The best sights are only about 1-2 miles from Sylvan Lake.
