It is a steady 1300 meter climb to the top, steep in some places, with very few flat or downhill sections. The higher you go the better the views get. The entire length of the hike is

. It took us four and half hours total to do the hike, including a stop for lunch and a stop for photos.
How many miles is Roys Peak?
The full Roys Peak Track is a
16km (~10 mile)
return hike, with a 1300m (~1 mile) elevation gain. This means you are walking 8km up a very steep incline before descending 8km back down.
Is Roys Peak harder than Tongariro?
It’s really tough on the body, so if you’re new to hiking, you might sit this one over. Glenn and I both found that
the Roy’s peak hike difficulty was greater than the Tongariro Alpine Crossing
. The Tongariro constantly changes its landscape, whereas the Roy’s Peak track stays the same during the whole hike.
Which is harder Ben Lomond or Roys Peak?
The only catch to Roy’s is that you are completely exposed to the sun with zero shade and the climb is relentless, you’re looking at 2.5 hours (approx!) of solid uphill walking and coming down gets a bit hard on your knees.

is no walk in the park either but I find it a little easier.
Are there toilets on Roys Peak?
Yes, there are two toilets along the track
. One is near the beginning of the track and the other is around 7km mark, near the end of the track.

How do you climb Ben Lomond?
To climb Ben Lomond, head to Rowardennan on the east side of Loch Lomond. Access Rowardennan by car (there are no busses) via an 11-mile dead-end road from the village of Drymen. Cruise Loch Lomond run twice daily sailings by their water bus from Tarbet on the west side of Loch Lomond.
