What if I accidentally gave my dog two heartworm pills?
If it was Heartgard, there is no cause for concern
. It is an extremely safe product and very difficult to overdose. If it was a different preparation of ivermectin, a double dose may not be cause for concern unless your dog is sensitive to it or carries the MDR1 gene.
Is it okay to give NexGard a few days late?
Most heartworm medication for dogs has a 15-day overlap period – so
if you are less than 15 days late, your pet should be okay
. Simply give them a new dose and make sure to give them their next dose 30 days later. If you missed an entire month of coverage, your dog may not have had any of the medicine in their system.
Can I double dosed my dogs flea treatment?
Dr. Danielle Wassink, DVM says that’s
not a good idea because it could result in an overdose
. “You wouldn’t want to give them an extra dose early,” Wassink says. “They usually still have killing power, it just may be a little bit slower.”
Is NexGard better than Frontline?
