Length times width gives the surface area of the pool. Multiplying that by the depth gives the volume in cubic meters. If you’d like to find the pool volume in gallons, multiply your results by 7.5, as there are 7.5 gallons for each cubic foot.

How to Compute Volume of a round or circular pool. To get the volume, you need to get the radius squared, multiply it by 3.14 then multiply the result by the average depth, then multiply it by 28.31 to get the volume in litres . Radius squared is basically half of the diameter of your pool, multiplied by itself.
A 12-by-24-foot rectangular pool with an average depth of 5 feet will hold approximately 10,800 gallons of water. A 16-by-32-foot pool with the same depth will hold about 19,200 gallons, and a 20-by-40-foot pool will hold 30,000 gallons.

The general recommendation is to use 1 pound of cal hypo shock for every 10,000 gallons of pool water , and 10 ounces of sodium hypo with around 12.5% chlorine to sanitize your pool.
