Cadets meet
four hours a week, two hours on Tuesday and two hours on Thursday from 3pm to 5pm
. Cadets complete courses in Basic Military Requirements (BMR) and training that is similar to what recruits learn in US Navy boot camp.
How much do Sea Cadets get paid?
It is important to us that the membership fees are minimal in order to be accessible to as many people as possible. Annual enrollment fees are:
$90/year per each NSCC
/NLCC cadet and $40/year per officer/midshipman/instructor. Some units may also charge an additional administrative fee.
What age can you join Sea Cadets?
All prospective cadets must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents, and meet our minimum age requirement (
ages 10 through the completion of high school

Can you join Sea Cadets at 15?

What do the Sea Cadets do?
The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a program for young Americans, male and female, ages 10 through 17, whose objectives are to
develop an interest and skill in basic seamanship and in its naval adaptations, to train them in sea going skills
, and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance and kindred virtues.
Do cadets get paid?
Cadets earn
approximately $1185.00 per month in basic pay
. This covers the majority of school related expenses. However, most expenses are incurred within the first eight months (uniforms, computer, textbooks, etc.)
Is Army cadets free?
Yes. On joining the Army Cadet Force as a cadet
you will be issued with a uniform free of charge
, though you might be asked for a deposit. All you need to buy is a good pair of boots.
What’s the difference between Scouts and cadets?
Scouts is about kids getting out and challenging themselves
. Team building, goal setting, community service etc. Air force cadets is about becoming part of the military machine.
Can you quit Sea Cadets?
For 12 to 17 year olds, young people can join as a Sea Cadet and work their way up through the training programme.
When cadets turn 18, they can either leave the Corps
or they can stay and train as staff.
How do you become a sea cadet?
All prospective cadets
must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents
, and meet our minimum age requirements (ages 10 through the completion of high school). Cadets must be unmarried, drug-free, and alcohol-free. Successful academic progress is required as well (at least a “C”-grade point average).
To join the Navy, you must: Be a U.S. citizen; or Legal Permanent Resident (Enlisted) Be
between the ages of 17 and 39 to enlist
or be between 19 and 42 to become an Officer*
What do you do in army cadets?
Army cadets develop abilities in the use of
map and compass, GPS technology, orienteering, first-aid, camping and survival skills, canoeing, abseiling, trekking, mountain biking
, etc. As they get more experienced, some will be selected for parachuting, white-water rafting and glacier climbing.
Actual cash pay is
$75 per month during plebe summer
and $125 per month for the rest of your first year, which increases each year thereafter. The Midshipmen Stipend Budget Book will give you an approximation of what sorts of expenses to expect each month.
Can you join cadets at 16?
To become a cadet, you must be be
at least 12 years old and not yet 19 years old
. Cadets usually meet 2 hours per week and one Saturday per month, on average, and also have opportunities to attend leadership encampments, career academies, and other activities during the summer.
