In fact, the show was canceled by its original network, CBS, after one season due to unimpressive ratings.
Jeri Weil quit acting after leaving the show “I wanted nothing to do with it — The reason that I left Beaver was because my womanhood was starting to show. So, they used to like, tape me down.” The former child star said that she grew so “tired” of the whole idea, that she left the show.
Her final appearance is in the episode, “Beaver Becomes a Hero” (October 1960). She was later dropped and replaced by Penny Woods, who becomes Beaver’s new nemesis.
Today Jeri Weil, the actress who played Judy Hensler on the CBS sitcom “Leave It to Beaver,” turns 73. The former child actress also appeared in “The New Leave It to Beaver” in 1987. In that 1987 episode, “The Bruise Brothers,” Weil played Judy Hensler Benton. Her son is bullying Ollie Cleaver.

The actors reunited for a ‘Leave It to Beaver’ TV movie and revival. While they were longtime friends off-screen, Mathers and Osmond got to work together again in 1983. They reprised their iconic Leave It to Beaver roles in a TV movie, Still the Beaver.
Actor Stevens left the show when his family moved from Burbank, California, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a move which brought Stevens’s acting career to an end. Stevens reprised his role of Larry Mondello in the 1983 reunion telemovie, Still the Beaver.
Ken Osmond, who on TV’s “Leave It to Beaver” played two-faced teenage scoundrel Eddie Haskell, a role so memorable it left him typecast and led to a second career as a police officer, died Monday. Osmond died in Los Angeles at age 76, his family said.

The Reason June Cleaver Always Wore Heels and Pearls They wanted June to tower above her boys if at all possible. And that omnipresent strand of pearls was strictly Billingsley’s idea ““ she used them to conceal a surgical scar on her neck.
LEAVE IT TO BEAVER was more than a family sitcom filled with heartwarming lessons about growing up. To add to the social mix, we also have the only black character ever to appear on LEAVE IT TO BEAVER, a maid played by Kim Hamilton. This is very much a “Wally and Eddie” episode, with Beaver firmly in the background.
“I only wore trousers one time on the show, for a gardening scene. I don’t know why they didn’t allow it more often because I used to wear pants at home. But they just didn’t want June Cleaver to wear the pants in the house,” she says.
