Zelda: Zelda is about six years old and was orphaned after a fire that was lit by the polish resistance, who also killed her parents.
The sequels to the book are Then (2009), Now (2010), After (2012), Soon (2015) Maybe (2017), and Always (2021). In chronological order of Felix’s life, the books are Once, Then, After, Soon, Maybe, Now, and Always.
It’s in After that the twelve year old Felix gains his first medical experience, living in the forest with a group of partisan fighters and assisting their doctor . Life with the partisans offers Felix another opportunity too. The chance, after years of living in desperate danger from the Nazis, to strike back.
Felix wants to jump but the other children don’t want to, even when Felix tries to calm them with a story. Felix, Zelda and another child Chaya decide to jump. Chaya dies as a result of her fall. Felix realises that Barney has syringes containing lethal chemicals which he found in the abandoned dental surgery .

When I first started planning Once I had no idea that a 10 year old Polish Jewish boy would take me on the writing journey of my life. I just wanted to write a story about a friendship . ... But I didn’t want the story to be too cosy and safe. I wanted to explore every part of friendship.
At the time I was thinking about writing it a refugee boat started to leak in the ocean between Indonesia and Australia . Terrified parents put lifejackets on their children and threw them into the sea to get them away from the boat, which they feared would sink and drag them all under.
Morris used to be married to Christine but now he’s married to Mary-Anne . He has two children, Sophie and Ben, and two step-children, Tom and Jamie.
The movie is sad , funny, real, everything that life is and it gives you hope. It’s about a moment that happens in life that may not come by again or may not last forever, but it just might have the greatest impact on you. I know I’ll be watching “Once” again.
He said “A little movie called Once (2007) gave me enough inspiration to last the rest of the year”. The title refers to the many very talented artists that John Carney knew who put off their career by saying “once ” they get this and that sorted out, but never succeed because they’ve put it off too long.
I recommend Once for children aged 9 and up . If your child is particularly sensitive, read it with them.
