When Would You Use A 30mm Lens? Just like with portrait photography, if you want more of the background in your photo, a 30mm lens is great. For more intimate shots, use something more “zoomed in,” such as an 85mm lens. Is 30 mm landscape good? Personally, it is not my top choice for landscapes
