Should Communist Be Capitalized? The editors of Orbis have adapted this rule as follows: “communist” is capitalized only in reference to a party with the word “communist” in its official name: the Communist Party of the Soviet Union; the Communist Party in the former Soviet Union; the Communists under Stalin; Bolsheviks; the Communists in China.
