Where Is The Sierra Located? The Sierra Nevada is a mountain range located in the western region of the United States. It is part of the larger American Cordillera chain of mountain ranges. The range, whose name means “snowy saw range” in Spanish, is situated between the Great Basin and the Central Valley of California.
