Can I drive through Yosemite without a reservation?


A reservation is required to drive into or through Yosemite during peak hours

. A reservation is required to drive into or through Yosemite National Park from 6 am to 4 pm daily. If you are planning to arrive after 4 pm, please do not arrive at a park entrance station until after 4 pm.

Going-to-the-Sun Road

Open for Summer 2022

Going-to-the-Sun Road officially opened on July 13 for the summer season. The road may now be fully accessed by motorized vehicles from both the West Glacier and St. Mary entrances across Logan Pass.

With Highway 120/Tioga Pass Road running along it’s north shore, Tenaya Lake is incredibly accessible when the seasonal road is open,

typically from May through October

.

The distance from Yosemite Valley to Lee Vining (on US Hwy 295) is a little less than 80 miles, but

it will take at least two hours to drive it

. That is if you don’t stop, which is probably unrealistic because of these gorgeous spots you’ll pass.

The area is closed

to prevent visitor injury and to decrease the potential exposure of NPS rescue personnel to COVID-19 due to rescue efforts

. All Lower Yosemite Falls Amphitheater climbing routes in this area are open but must be accessed by trails or routes outside of the closed area.
