(PMF) Program is the Federal Government's flagship leadership development program for early career graduate degree holders.
How are PMF finalists selected?
Finalists selected as Fellows are
appointed to 2-year fellowships in the excepted service
, under the Pathways Programs Schedule D Hiring Authority. If the Finalist is a current Federal employee and accepts a PMF appointment offer, the employee would resign from their current Federal position.
How do I become a PMF?
Attend a
minimum of 160 hours of formal interactive training
(80 hours per year) Complete at least one developmental assignment four to six months in length. Create a performance plan and undergo an annual performance review with a minimum rating of “Successful” for each year of their fellowship.
Is the Presidential Management Fellows Program prestigious?
The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program was created to draw candidates with leadership potential into the Federal Government.

and PMFs enjoy advantages in finding jobs, qualify for faster promotions, and get opportunities to rotate outside of their home assignment.

The PMF Program is highly selective, with
only 1 in 10 applicants being chosen
for a two-year Fellowship. Each year, OPM recruits recent graduates from top masters and doctoral level programs from accredited colleges and universities worldwide.
How competitive is the PMF?
While the PMF Program is an excellent opportunity to start a career in public service and sets someone up for quick advancement, the
application process is also extremely competitive
. Even if you are one of the approximately 400 finalists named out of roughly 6,300 applicants, you are not guaranteed a job placement.

What is a CDC fellowship?
Through these fellowships,
nursing students
gain hands-on experience that will enhance their professional careers. Fellows work closely with, and receive mentoring from, CDC subject matter experts while building leadership skills in public health programs and policy. Education requirements vary per position.
