PureSYN Universal ATF
is a full synthetic transmission fluid specifically designed for today’s technologically enhanced automatic transmissions. Including those requiring GM DEXRON®- VI, Ford Mercon®-V, Mercon®-SP & Mercon®-LV, Chrysler ATF+3 & ATF +4, Toyota T-II, T-III, T-IV & WS, Honda, Acura, Volvo, Mercedes, BMW.
How often should the transmission fluid be changed?
If you drive manual, most manufacturers will recommend changing your transmission fluid
every 30,000 to 60,000 miles
. If you have automatic, you can typically boost that range up to 60,000 to 100,000 miles. There’s no harm in changing your fluid early.
What is af6 transfer case fluid?
PureSYN Multi-Vehicle ATF
is a full synthetic transmission fluid specifically designed for today’s technologically enhanced automatic transmissions.
Can you mix regular transmission fluid with synthetic fluid?
Is it OK to mix synthetic ATF with a conventional and/or synthetic blend ATF?
Yes
. Synthetic ATF and conventional fluids are 100 percent compatible with each other.
What is GLS gear oil?
API Category GL-4 designates the type of
service characteristic of spiral-bevel and hypoid gears
in automotive axles operated under moderate speeds and loads. These oils may be used in selected manual transmission and transaxle applications.
Is transfer case fluid the same as transmission fluid?
Most transfer cases are filled with an
automatic transmission fluid
, which is usually red in colour. Others use a thicker gear oil, and some use a specialized fluid that is specifically made just for that transfer case.
Can I use Dexron VI instead of III?
Dexron VI fully replaces
Dexron III and prior evolutions of the Dexron fluids. GM manufactured the liquid for compatibility with transmissions requiring earlier versions of the fluid. Dexron VI works in any vehicle that requires ATF-A (the original automatic transmission fluid) or a Dexron variation.
Why You Should Never flush your transmission fluid?
Transmission fluid is highly detergent which can wash the varnish off clutches, causing it to slip.
Pressure flushing can cause aging seals to start leaking
. When it leaks more than a quart it could burn up the unit.
What happens if you never change transmission fluid?
If you don’t change your transmission fluid frequently, the
dirty fluid will not serve as an effective lubricant and it won’t disperse heat well
. This will cause wear and tear on the clutches and other parts of your transmission.
Is it better to flush or drain transmission fluid?
Proponents of transmission flushes will often argue that
a flush is a better service
because it replaces more of your transmission fluid. It’s true that removing your transmission pan or draining your transmission via its drain plug (as your car manufacturer intends) only removes about 70% of the fluid inside.
Can you mix old and new transmission fluid?
This fluid starts to lose its standard properties and should be changed to keep the transmission parts and its performance at its peak. Mixing old and news fluids
wont give you the ideal viscosity
and the reduces the performance of the transmission system.
What happens if you put too much transmission fluid in a car?
Transmission fluid will
become foamy
if there is too much fluid. Excessive fluid prohibits proper lubrication and cooling and slows the rotating crankshaft, similar to the effect of running through water.
What is equivalent to Mercon LV?
It’s said on the bottle that it is certified by Ford for Mercon LV applications. Later, I did some research and found two other certified products:
Castrol/Transmax ATF full synthetic multi-vehicle transmission fluid
available from Autozone and Silver State Dex VI / Mercon LV ATF.
Can you use 80w90 instead of SAE 90?
Yes it is the same… close enough anyway. SAE 90 gear oil is equivalent to
50wt
engine oil (SAE 80 = 30wt), so you could always dump that in instead if you want.
Can I use GL5 gear oil instead of GL4?
No
, the API GL5 rating does not supercede or cover the GL4 rating. It is important to follow the gearbox or diff manufacturers recommendations and use the correct GL rating.
Can I use 80w90 instead of 75w90?
Ans:
Yes
, you can mix 75w90 with 80w90.
