(N6) ensures afloat and ashore systems deliver command and control and information technology capability needs of the U.S. Pacific Fleet to ensure successful execution of the Navy’s mission across global, joint and coalition environments.
What is N2N6?
The
Office of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare
(OPNAV N2N6) sets policies, designates funding and oversees all aspects of the Navy information warfare (IW) mission.

The
DCNO for Operations, Plans and Strategy
(N3/N5) is the principal advisor to the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) on joint operations and the development of joint strategies, plans, programs, and policies.
Jeffrey Trussler
has been selected as the Navy’s next deputy chief of naval operations for information warfare, N2/N6 and director of naval intelligence, according to a Department of Defense release.
Serving concurrently as the deputy chief of naval operations (
manpower, personnel, training and education
) (N1), he is responsible for the planning and programming of all manpower, personnel, training and education resources for the U.S. Navy.

United States Third Fleet (

Seventh Fleet
is the largest of the U.S. Navy’s forward-deployed fleets. At any given time there are 50-70 ships and submarines, 150 aircraft, and more than 20,000 Sailors and Marines in Seventh Fleet.
As an Echelon II command, it
reports directly to the Chief of Naval Operations
. It is responsible for the operation and management of all Naval installations worldwide through eleven Navy regions.
The United States Navy has
approximately 490 ships
in both active service and the reserve fleet, with approximately 90 more in either the planning and ordering stages or under construction, according to the Naval Vessel Register and published reports.
