Test-Optional
We are committed to maintaining access for all students. Considering the testing interruptions caused by COVID-19, NC State will be test-optional for 2022 spring and fall first-year applicants.
With a GPA of 4.39 , UNC requires you to be at the top of your class. You’ll need nearly straight A’s in all your classes to compete with other applicants. You should also have taken plenty of AP or IB classes to show your ability to excel in academic challenge.
Admissions Requirements
A minimum grade point average of 2.7 at the time you apply to the School of Education. The 2.7 GPA entrance requirement is mandated by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and is not negotiable.

On May 27, 2021, the UNC Board of Governors voted to extend the current testing waiver for students applying for admission in Spring 2022, Summer 2022, and Fall 2022. Students will have the option to submit an ACT or SAT test score, but test scores will not be required for admission decisions.
