measures the distance from your pubic bone to the top of your uterus in centimeters. Your health care practitioner will also palpate your abdomen to get an idea of your baby’s size. After 24 weeks of pregnancy, the fundal height in centimeters is roughly equivalent to the week of gestation.
What should my belly measure at 24 weeks?
The expectation is that after week 24 of pregnancy the fundal height for a normally growing baby will match the number of weeks of pregnancy —
plus or minus 2 centimeters
. For example, if you’re 27 weeks pregnant, your health care provider would expect your fundal height to be about 27 centimeters.
What should you measure at 25 weeks pregnant?
If you’re 25 weeks along, your belly should measure
between 23 and 27 centimeters
. There are a variety of reasons why your belly could be measuring large, like swelling or fluid retention (a common problem during pregnancy) or simply being a bigger woman before you became pregnant.
