Escitalopram should not be taken with or within 2 weeks of taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). These include
phenelzine (Nardil®)
, tranylcypromine (Parnate®), isocarboxazid (Marplan®), rasagiline (Azilect®), and selegiline (Emsam®).
What can you not mix with Lexapro?
Do not use escitalopram with
buspirone
(Buspar®), fentanyl (Abstral®, Duragesic®), lithium (Eskalith®, Lithobid®), tryptophan, St. John’s wort, amphetamines, or some pain or migraine medicines (eg, rizatriptan, sumatriptan, tramadol, Frova®, Imitrex®, Maxalt®, Relpax®, Ultram®, Zomig®).
Can you take Lexapro with other meds?
Some products that may interact with this drug include: other drugs
that can cause bleeding/bruising
(including antiplatelet drugs such as clopidogrel, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, “blood thinners” such as warfarin). Aspirin can increase the risk of bleeding when used with this medication.
Can I take pain reliever with Lexapro?
Using escitalopram together with
ibuprofen
may increase the risk of bleeding. The interaction may be more likely if you are elderly or have kidney or liver disease. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.
Can I take an anti-inflammatory with Lexapro?
Ask your doctor before taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, and others. Using an NSAID with escitalopram may cause you to
bruise
or bleed easily.
Should I take Lexapro in the morning or at night?
