If the software is the point of the manuscript
, the person should be included as a co-author or as part of a development team. If they software is not the point of the manuscript, but the research is dependent upon the software, they should be included if they were involved in design and architecture.
Authorship rules
My rule has been that a co-author should be
someone who contributes to at least 2-3 of the 6 key “parts” of a study
: getting funding, conceiving the idea, designing the study/experiment, collecting the data, analysing the data, writing the manuscript.
A co-author is
any person who has made a significant contribution to a journal article

How I can politely ask him for his contribution? Just
sent him/her an email with a
brief summary of the ideas you are interested in and ask him/her if he/she is interested on the project, it has worked for me. Otherwise, try to attend one of his/her talks and approach him/her and the end of the talk, if possible.
Shared co-first authorship is defined as
two or more authors who have worked together on a publication and contributed equally
[8]. … For instance, Gastroenterology acknowledges up to two co-first authors by bolding their names in the reference section but not in the body of the manuscript [10].
The
number of authors is unlimited in principal
. There are publications with dozens if not hundreds of authors in large international multi-institutional projects. But in the last past years more and more journals have limited the number of co-authors. Typically the limitation is six authors.

Corresponding author is
the most important author in a research article

Both of them are authors no doubt but the difference is that
the author is the one who has developed the idea or concept for a work
while the co-author is a person who is helping the author in writing the work with some contribution.
With Office and OneDrive or SharePoint, multiple people can work together on a Word document, Excel spreadsheet, or PowerPoint presentation.
When everyone is working at the same time
