You are required to receive a nomination
from a nominating authority
in order to attend the Naval Academy. The majority of midshipmen receive their nominations through Congress – either a State Senator or their local Congressional Representative.
- Attend a summer seminar or stem program.
- Do a campus visit and tour.
- Get really good grades, SAT / ACT scores, and rank highly in your class.
- Participate in athletics and community service, and demonstrate leadership qualities.
- Fill out a preliminary application.
If offered an appointment to the Naval Academy,
candidates must extend their enlistment and/or active duty agreement
in order to have a minimum of 24 months of active obligated service remaining as of 1 July of the entering year.
